Side by Side 2016 Chronology In a Poem

Side by Side 2016

As the year unfolds,

I reviewed the stories I told.

I realized, 2016 had been a wonderful year,

full of wonderful blessings and laughter.

First is the engagement,

we asked the blessing from our parents.

Our heart was filled with happiness,

in our life there is no more emptiness.

Canyoneering (6)

Our journey to the big day started,

but the adventure together never ended.

We chased canyons and jumped waterfalls,

inside us, we were also slowly breaking the walls.

Camotes Island

Off to another island we go,

the thing we’ve always want to do.

Witnessed the beautiful sunset,

as our heart synchronize in beat.

Osmena Peak

Together we climbed the highest peak,

Reaching the summit was a fulfillment to seek.

Though the mountain was very high,

we hold hands as we try to reach the sky.

Happy Birthday, Side by Side!

Until Side by Side celebrated its anniversary,

Finally reached its first birthday.

With this, I felt very successful.

This milestone is just so wonderful.

Our Wedding Day

And the day we’ve been waiting for came,

I succeeded stealing his last name.

Oh, you know how my heart was filled with glee,

Marrying my bestfriend was the best thing that had happened to me.

Durano Eco Farm

Our journey didn’t stop there,

we still have a lot of adventures to share.

We have springs to visit,

and many mountains to reach.

Mt. Naupa, Naga

2016 has been a great year,

2017 what has in store for us, I wonder.

More adventures and love,

That’s what I pray from the BIG MAN above.

PS. Thank you for your never ending clicks and comments, our dear friends. I hope to still see you this year! Happy New Year!!!

Love, Ace and Demi.

A New Site.

First of all, I would like to THANK everyone for the never ending support you gave to my blog. Thank you so much for the likes on my posts, and for your comments that I really enjoyed reading. Thank you for patiently waiting for my next entries every time I’m gone for a while. I REALLY appreciate it!!!

When I started Side by Side, I didn’t know it would come this far. But I’m grateful for it. And I’m looking forward to more years in the blogosphere.

As you see, Side by Side is everything — personal, inspiration, love story, poem, fashion, travel, and etc. But this blog is  actually the story of my life, our life. This is the product of my imagination, my will to write and share. This tells everyone how I grow and change in different aspects of my life. It tells about my journey, my love story.

This is my journey! But if you want to, you can walk with me.

“It takes change to make change! “

With our rising passion in traveling, we decided to make a separate site for all our travel stories. We introduce to you, Ace and Demi Travel Stories. We realized that we’ve been to a lot of places and some of our followers like to read our posts about them. However, they find it hard to filter them because the entries are commingled. That’s how we came to the idea of separating the travel stories.

To my avid Side by Side followers, there is nothing to worry because I’m still running this blog. We’ve come this far, there is no way I’m giving up now. 😀

Anyway, if you would like to hear our travel stories, follow our adventures and misadventures by clicking here.

See you on the other side!!!! :* Blessings!

2015 in review

Hooray for 2015!

Thank you WordPress for this wonderful review! I hope to post more next year. 🙂

The stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 820 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 14 trips to carry that many people.

My Confession — How It All Started.

I am a blogger…Yes, I am!

“I write…because there is a voice within me that will not be still.” ~Sylvia Plath

I met my college writing teacher sometime last week. We exchanged hi’s and hello’s. He asked me about a post shared on my Facebook account. “Are you blogging?” I was surprised. (I thought, did he actually checked on my blog?) I hesitated to say yes, so I just nodded. He said, “Great!” I was surprised again. (He was one of the few people who knew that I have this dream of writing to express my thought. He was also one of them who encouraged me me to pursue it.)

The thought of blogging came to my mind when I was in high school. I was a writer of the campus paper then. I participated as a feature and editorial writer in some journalism competitions, but unfortunately, winning was very elusive to me. Haha.. Our school paper adviser made a blog for convenient posting of our articles. That’s when I met the idea of becoming a “blogger”.

Then I started to dream of becoming one — as a frustrated writer I am, I wanted to write about my thoughts, my experiences, the people around me, and whatever goes under the sun. I love the thought of having them posted and knowing that some people from other parts of the world are able to read them (feels like an online diary). Not just writing them on an old notebook I have been keeping since.

I was 12 when I started writing. I can still remember, I used to write my thoughts on a recycled notebook ( a notebook I used during the past school year with some extra clean pages left) because I couldn’t afford to buy a new one. I wrote in “dual-language” (Visayan-English). 🙂 Eight years later (when my knowledge about the universal language has improved and became better), I re-read my writings. I couldn’t help but laugh with my grammar and sentences. I realized that I had always been trying hard. When I was writing those, my main goal was only to express what I had inside my head and never thought of having anybody read them.

As the years pass, my love for writing grew like a bud slowly opening and waiting for the right time to perfectly bloom. I tried hard to learn English, hoping someday, I can write using this language.

A good friend of mine once told me, “When you write, write from within, write what is on the top of your head, not what people expect you to write. Your grammar may not be perfect and your sentences may not be well-constructed, who cares? It’s normal. English is not the language you grew up with. Just be open to criticisms and accept corrections. It’s one way of learning.”

With it, I found the courage to pursue my dream.

Virginia Woolf once said, “So long as you write what you wish to write, that is all that matters; and whether it matters for ages or only for hours, nobody can say.”

Then I found Side by Side.  A dream come true, a prayer answered.

It’s a long way to go, but be doing it slowly. 🙂

Hugs and kisses from yours truly. :*

Why Side by Side?

Found this on my draft. This was supposedly my second post on this blog, but I totally forgot about it. Glad I found it… 🙂

Blogging is one of a dream come true. I’m especially grateful to WordPress for making this possible. When I started this blog, I daunted. I worry about this and that…Nevertheless, after weeks of discerning, I did found my courage to pursue it.

So, why the name SIDE by SIDE?

The name was inspired by a book that was in front of me when I started this blog. 🙂

It is a Grammar book. I use it in some of my classes. At first, I found the book really boring, because I thought, there’s nothing more in it than draggy grammatical explanation that I have been studying since I started going to school. (Don’t get me wrong, I love Grammar books, but this was how I saw them when I was younger.) I was in my second year high school when I started liking them. I usually stayed in the library for hours with such books. I borrowed some of those and read them on weekends. Eventually, I admitted to myself, that I had fallen in love with books of those kinds. It took a while before I realized that Grammar books are actually fun to read.

My life, I think, is similar to these books.

Other people think I am boring. Some chose to know me more first and realized that I am actually fun to be with.

Others think, my life is easy. Some witnessed my hardships and despair. They saw how I managed to stand up every time I fell.

Others think, I am always happy. Some saw my tears and tried to wipe them.

Others think, I am successful. Some knew my failures and saw how I handle them.

Others think I’m too ambitious. Some understand why my dreams are big.

Other people said I am unlucky. Some of them said, I am a lucky one.

But I said, “I am just blessed by the MIGHTY ONE.”

Side by Side tells about life, inspiration, people, places and me. It’s a tidbit of my thoughts. Here are stories under the sun, just whatever makes me feel like writing. I don’t write for the sake of having a post everyday. I write my thoughts and would love to hear other people’s thought about it, too.

And this is what it’s all about! 🙂

PS: Pardon me if I couldn’t post everyday. There are really days when my head is empty and my thoughts not working..haha. 🙂

Thank’s for droppin’ by… 🙂

Love lots,

Emz 🙂
